School Dances, Done Big
I produce large school dances for high schools and colleges across the Pacific Northwest, working with districts throughout the region to create high-energy events that keep students engaged and gyms full until the last song.
One of my favorite things to hear from staff is:
“The kids never stay until the end.”
When they do — that’s the win.I don’t subcontract school events. When you book Sound Dragon, you work directly with me, backed by a purpose-built production team that understands engagement, crowd flow, and school environments.
I wanted to be a DJ ever since my first homecoming — which, let’s be real, wasn’t great. By the end of high school, I was already DJing. Today, I don’t “DJ gigs.” I produce epic school dances for some of the biggest schools in the Northwest.
Let’s be real: paper cutouts disappear when the lights go down.
The DJ doesn’t.You can call me DJ 67, DJ Who Cares, or just “the guy running the music.”
Students aren’t there for the DJ — they’re there for their friends and their moment.
My job is to lead that experience, not steal it.A DJ no-show — or someone’s dad with speakers — can sink a dance fast. There’s no redo. I bring real-time interaction, student-focused performances, and production built specifically for schools.
My goal is simple: create a night students remember long after graduation.

Schools choose Sound Dragon because I deliver high student engagement with a professional, well-managed setup that’s designed to work within real school constraints. The production is visually impressive and exciting for students, but structured and controlled for staff.
My systems are pre-rigged and purpose-built, allowing for fast setup and removal within standard school event windows — without disruption to campus operations. Communication is clear before, during, and after the event, so staff always knows what to expect.
I focus on pacing, interaction, and crowd flow to keep students involved from start to finish, while maintaining a predictable, safe environment. The result is a reliable, worry-free event that runs smoothly and leaves both students and staff satisfied.

Large-scale productions require reliable power and safe access. To avoid electrical guesswork, I typically use a portable outdoor diesel generator rented from a local equipment company. It is delivered, picked up, and staged outside the nearest access doors, with power run directly to the stage area.
If a venue has dedicated 50-amp 220V power available near the event space, the generator is not required and the event receives a $500 discount.
Access is critical. All equipment must be able to roll directly into the event space without stairs. Events requiring stairs are not eligible, as I will not risk staff safety or equipment damage. Load-in requires double doors with no center bar to allow safe, efficient access.
These requirements ensure fast setup and removal, safe operation, and a smooth, worry-free event.

I unfortunately do not offer a “medium” package. The difference between my systems is significant, and each package is designed to perform at a specific scale. Both options are available to any qualifying school.
Pricing reflects the full scope of production, including crew size, equipment scale, payroll, transportation, and preparation time.
Booking is straightforward. Once we establish communication and confirm fit, I provide a W-9, proof of insurance with the school listed as additional insured, and a one-page invoice. A contract signed by an authorized school representative is required to officially secure the date.
Because there is only one Sound Dragon and many schools, bookings are first come, first served. Dates are not held. A date can be booked the moment details are confirmed.
Payment follows district policy whenever possible, though prepayment by card or check upon arrival is preferred.
Reliability matters. It would take an act of God for me to cancel — I haven’t missed a single event in my career, spanning hundreds of school productions.
